RESILIENZA

“Resilienza” was shot in Venice during the summer of 2020.

I had the privilege of witnessing the work of some of the last Gondola’s artisans.

During Covid-19 this sector, already in crisis due to a lack of generational shift, suffered serious economic damage, nevertheless its artisans resist to pass on this unique art that has fascinated people from all over the world.

I visited the unique workshops of Saverio Pastor and Paolo Convilli, and finally the Squero of San Trovaso, which dates back to before the seventeenth century and is of the very few places workshops of construction and repairs of gondolas still operating in Venice. I want to tell through my shots this complex art form, its immortal artisans and the environments where it takes shape.
