Born in Rome(Italy) in 1997, Costanza Salini began her photography studies in Milan, London and Rotterdam in prestigious academies to address a genre of humanistic photography.
She is currently graduating from Willem De Kooning academy in Rotterdam with the installation I won’t let you leave my love behind, a reflection on memory and grief dedicated to her father, passed away in 2021.
Giving a voice and a space to those who are often unnoticed.
That is my main goal as a social photographer. Having experienced exclusion, having felt different due to my health condition, I am sensitive to these topics.
Since I can remember it, I have always been curious and interested in the life of others, especially in what was more culturally distant from me, or more complex to understand. What made me confront new realities and therefore question myself has always been and still is the engine of my life and my artistic production.
Through my visual art I address important topics such as sexuality, cultural barriers or gender representation, encouraging the spectator to reflect on the social issues put forward by my projects.
It is through open conversation and listening that I can reach the level of intimacy that I constantly seek in my visual research.
Untold stories, those that can reveal situations of social exclusion, those that are often left out of the mainstream, are what interest me the most.
